Founded in February 2023, Somali Media of Minnesota is a nonprofit digital newsroom dedicated to reporting for immigrants from the Horn of Africa in their home languages, mainly in Somali. The language barrier has been a challenge for some newcomers to actively participate in the affairs of our society. The main objective of the news coverage in these languages is removing language barriers to create a vibrant, cohesive, inclusive, and just society. Our dedicated staff will provide accurate and meaningful information in these languages.
Our stories reach audiences on many platforms, including our website, social media tv, and community events coverage. We deliver stories about health, education, housing, business, and political participation.
